Auto Details

Aside from Gunplas, i’m also deeply passionate about cars, especially cars with racing pedigree. In this series of photos, i attempted to capture close-up shots of the unique details which make up the defining elements of an iconic car. * This is in no way related to http://www.autodetailed.com ~a great photoblog by a professional auto-detailer; as in my case my subjects will be in their most /usual normal state i.e. non-showroom prepped, with good signs of wear and weathering effect from the daily grind of use ~ these would add a touch of very realistically interesting details, i think. For a start i began with pilot specimens, the regulars that resides at our co-rented residence here in Oil Town: ER33 & ZZT230

Project MG RX-178 Gundam Mk-II Ver. 2.0: Titans Prototype Mobile Suit ~ Part III

Here are some of shots of my current on-going project again, now at its snap-build completion stage. For this particular build, i have decided to do away with only half of its armour installed, to expose its sophisticated skeletal frame which, i thought to be cooler until Bandai launched its clear part campaign recently... but as a whole kit *meaning i won't be able to purchase the clear parts only for my existing MGs... -_-"

This project has taken on intermittent hiatus while yours truly was away on business trip and ocassional home trip; as evident in this close-up shot which, also features the amount of dust that has accumulated on it while lying on halted display on my desktop =p

Very high level of detail on the skeletal frame which entails tedious panel lining job to make it presentable... xp

Experimented with my newly acquired SP90 f/2.8 macro for this shoot; obviously the resultant pichas turned out to be quite crappy, just like these examples... -_-

I've still got a lot to work on to get the correct setup for toy photography...

Updates on Project Mk-II Titan to be continued after decal application stage is completed; now that i won't be going anywhere for this weekend, i'll see if i can get it ready for another proper shoot. =)

Studio 23 Dinner & Dance 2009 ~ the alternative shots

On my recent home trip, i had the opportunity to attend Studio 23's highly anticipated inaugural Dinner & Dance held at the newly opened Borneo Convention Centre in Kuching on the 14th, September to snap some pictures. It was a glam & glitz fun-filled event with plenty of stellar showcase of dance performances namely Belly Dance, Jazz & Flamenco among the popular few, by the instructor-student community of the studio itself. Just a day before, i made a timely acquisition of a much sought after lens, a 2nd had unit of the Tamron SP AF90mm Di lens from my good colleague, which i've subjected to heavy use during the event; despite being unfamiliar using the new addition & having to move about constantly to get good composition adjustment, *since it's a fixed-focal length lens, i'm very suprised by how well the shots turned out to be ~ very sharp & crisp, though for most instances due to the dimmed lighting during performances, i had to boost the ISO settings to max of 1600 *very noisy already for 450D* just maintain a high enough shutter speed *above 1/100 to reduce handshake*. Nevermind that i wasn't able to use my external speedlite i brought along coz my Eneloop batteries shipment is still on the way from Shashinki, as i type this -_- *my Sunpak P42Zx Speedlite is still a virgin!*
By staying on the larger aperture setting of the SP90 *shot mostly between f/2.8 - f/3.5 setting*, i was able the capture the creative ambient lighting of the stage while maintaining sufficient shutter speed to capture the on-stage actions. *i dig the ambient lighting!* =)

I've taken my baby steps into the world of digital photography as an EOS user; 14 months have passed since, and after much convincing, i've have finally arrived at a decision to switch camp, after much contemplation. I'm swapping my Canon EOs450D for a Nikon D300!

Well, after acquiring much Canon stuff recently, it'll be unlikely for me to turn my back on my EOS system, at least for the time being.

I'm actually helping a buddy couple of mine to COD a D300 body, as essential asset expansion to sustain their growing photography portfolio @ http://adrianpuk.sytes.net/blog/. Yups, they're the wacky couple, Adrian & Faith who did a great outdoor potraiture shoot for me & my gf a couple of months back! I'll hand carry your precious goody back to Kuching soon! =)
