Angels & Demons

This has been one hard movie to catch. Wanted to watch it last friday, but the tickets for the prime time shows were mostly sold out, left with only the front row seats when we went there. Finally got to watch it just hours ago, but had to put up with a little side-story drama of its own when for some unknown technical reasons, the flick got halted for a good 15 minutes which felt like an eternity, halfway through the show just when the story was building up to the climax. Despite all that, the movie still managed to keep me on the edge of my seat throughout; with suspense at every turn of the story, thanks to the superb punctuating sound tracks that flowed well with the plot. This is one of the better movies, i've seen this year.
Only realized that, this is the prequel to the Davinci Code... no wonder the characters & theme sounded so eeriely familiar *i did not read either of the books before*
Can't seem to find the embed code for the movie trailers, but the links can be found here:

The trailer looks quite impressive to me; much more than the previous Impak Maksima; the drifting scenes realistic & are all actual stunts without using any CG effects. Anybody wants to watch with me? *i wonder if they're showing at the cinemas in Phuket? =p*

Another American monster movie *think Godzilla* ~ monster attack dizzyingly told from the view point of a handheld video cam, not unlike the Blairwitch Project but with better graphics & sound effects rendition; yes, portable gadgets technology has improved so much since, that you could shoot a whole blockbuster using one. Verdict: a barely 90mins flick with an abrupt ending is hardly worth the 9bucks, but i'd give 2 thumbs up for the effects. This movie sure is EFFECTIVE. It's the first thing that makes me vomit since that vodka overdose at Soho many moons ago...
Watch Cloverfield = get Clobbered-head feel xp

Secrets

“Follow the notes upon a journey

At first sight marks one's destiny

Once the voyage comes to an end

Return lies within hasty key”

Screening at Roy’s Polarwood Cineplex, the other night. Indifferently titled Secret (I think), this is actually Jay Chou’s directorial debut; from the uninspiring outlook of the movie teaser, this’ll be the one movie I would least care to watch. From the beginning it was laughter all the way, thanks to the ‘brilliantly precise’ senseless subtitles (think word-for-word mandarin-english direct translation ala Babel Fish)… laughed til beh tahanxp mind you, it’s supposed to be a melancholy love drama. Laughter subsides as the story unfolds; the subtly amazing musical & cinematography start to bowl me over ~ the plot’s a genius! But alas, just as the now highly anticipated climax of the story is slowly unfolding before our eyes, that darn pirated DVD stubbornly refused to play the last remaining 5 mins of the movie. Damn potong stim nia.. Then somebody had the bright idea to try streaming the movie from youtube ~ it had the whole movie uploaded in segments.. well almost all, except that highly sought after last 5 mins. Never had a movie that I wanted to watch the ending sooo badly. I guess, that’s karma biting back… so much for buying a pirated DVD! Fated to catch it at the big screen. Hope that it’s still showing at the 'proper' cineplex.

Another secret unveiled at the movie night: Simon’s Secret Cheesecake

Eh, how come got rectangular shaped crater defect in the middle one??

Doing some analysis on how the ‘defect’ was formed… Presentation 2/10 but Taste 8/10. Not bad at all, this fella can be good husband/bf material, heh... =p

One of them movies that has got me laughing all the way... so darn hilarious =D

One of the highlight of the movie: Spider Pig~!
Spider pig, spider pig,
does what ever a spider pig does,
can he swing from a web,
no he can't, he's a pig,
look out... he's the spider pig
duh! that catchy tune...

Hmm... looks kinda familiar, like from somebody's friendster =p

It's Labour day, & i haven't got much to do, lazying around at home. Did not bother to volunteer myself for public holiday duty, despite the lucrative OT payback. With the kind of scorching hot weather outside, it'll be near impossible for me to continue hibernating without breaking a sweat. So i figured, spending the afternoon catching a movie at the cineplex would better. Bought the tickets well before noon; half the seats were already booked... catching a much anticipated movie on its opening day, on a public holiday somemore; large turnout to be expected... which means plenty of eye-candies too =p

Just hope this movie lives up to its hype

I'm watching...

once a while i do enjoy purely action epic flick like this. 2 hours of spectacular bloody mayhem... though a bit lacking in plot ~ but hey's it's a pretty straight-forward history lesson. So, done with the beating around the bush & mushy romances, let's get to the hack-&-slash action already. Well, it's a guy thing, really...

Features a suspenseful exploration into the darkest corners of the human experience - What makes a man take drug? And what is the perspective of the drug dealer? Some disturbing scenes & a haunting question: Loneliness leads to drugs; but is loneliness scarier? Or are drugs scarier?

~ definitely worth my 10 bucks.
