Events: 2009 East Famine ~ visual updates

From Events
* warning: image heavy post; loading will take awhile =p

~ my 2nd performance outing with my passionate dancing darling; not as a performer or participant, but as the priviledged escort-cum-photographer-cum-props-manager *inventory list consists of only 3 unique chairs* with exclusive backstage access, hehe! =D
Since M's has already got an impressive coverage of her story as a performer, supporting those fasting for the good cause *she's always good with words*, i'll keep my end of the stick by sharing my side of the story through the lens... *coz words just don't flow out as smoothly, for me ~ pichas do the wonders for me*

It’s coming ~ 30-Hour East Famine to hit Kuching on this 21st!

When? 21st March 2009 (Saturday), 12pm to 22nd March 2009 (Sunday), 6pm

Where? Christian Ecumenical Worship Centre, Kuching

The 30-Hour Famine is basically a global movement against hunger and poverty; ~ an experiential, life-changing camp aimed at spreading awareness about global poverty, and raising funds to improve the lives of needy children and communities, internationally and locally.

At 30-Hour Famine,

1. Campers fast for 30 hours in solidarity with millions who go hungry because of wars, disasters and poverty.

2. During the fast, campers will be given a glimpse of the multitude of pressing global issues affecting poor and marginalized communities. This will be conducted via talks, simulation games, and group activities. On the other hand, there will also be fun activities such as a concert and movies during the camp to keep campers entertained.

3. More importantly, campers know their 30 hours of hunger is bringing hope to children and communities

To participate, campers are required to make a minimum donation of:

 RM80 for students/senior citizens (aged 55 years old and above)

 RM120 for non-students/working adults

Due to space constraint, 1,000 seats are available on a first-come-first serve basis. Registration closes on 1st March 2009. ~ dateline over liao~

*for more information, please visit the official webpage at http://www.worldvision.com.my

Calling out for big-hearted enthusiastic campers to be, who've missed the registration dateline ~ 2 good friends of mine had signed up to be volunteers to help out at the event, & also made the camper's donation pledge as well. So now there are 2 available seats to be filled ~ to be the stand-in camper, everything is FREE which, includes the certificate of participation, survival kit & breakfast kit (post-camp snack, i suppose), EXCEPT the complimentary T-shirts (for their own keepsake; you can purchase those on the spot too, i think).
For those still interested to participate, kindly drop me a message @ my e-mail add a.s.a.p.

I'll be there too *shooting pichas*, so cya guys there! =)

Yups, he's still missing a leg & launcher backpack. I liked the aggrasive stance of his silhoutte against the backdrop of the lighted monitor panel; though there's quite obvious traces of noise as the shot is taken at max ISO of 1600. It's almost as if he's pissed at me for procrastinating his assembly progress.... =p

One of the perks of having a part-time freelance dancer/performer girlfriend is that you get the exclusive privilege to tag along as part of the dance crew whenever there is a gig; you get the exciting opportunity to observe & experience the backstage preparation drama & chance to shoot great up-close pictures of all the action. =p

I had my first outing of such last night when we gate-crashed Merdeka Palace’s annual dinner thingy which, carried one ~ ‘Pirates of MacDougall’ theme. Studio 23’s belly dancing crew was invited to do a surprise gig; hence our top-secret-low-profile entry into the function via the corridor overlooking the main ballroom. Had a blasting good time at the packed event, the crowd was ecstatic; they all came donned in their best pirate cosplays! The dancers put on an awesome performance & were well applauded by the very enthusiastic & appreciative audience. =D

Now here’s a recollection of last night’s event in pichas:

For Sale: Monster Ride ~ H22A Powered EG3!

This is probably one of the finest specimen of the EG hatchback i have seen, to date. Fully pimped Euro-style ~ an ultra cool snazzy bodykit complimented with smoked projector headlamps, flashy LED rear lights & rolling on huge 17" wheels with an equal bling factor; this distinct hot hatch can be seen prowling the streets of Kuching occasionally. In case you're wondering whether this ride has got the GO to match its Fast & Furious look ~ be forewarned, this car is no slouch! ~ despite all the excess baggage from elaborate party dress it wears. This ride runs on a transplanted H22A engine a.k.a the Prelude's signature high-performance engine ~ a 2.2 liter 4 cyclinder VTEC banger which is capable of producing up to 210ps!! For a small NA car of this size, that translates to a very desirable amount of power-to-weight ratio, just imagine the amount of torque the engine generates! With an engine setup like this, now who needs turbos anymore? =p
Though i'm not sure how does alteration of the front-rear weight ratio of the vehicle due to the bigger & heavier power plant affects the handling, but there's no doubt about the top end power it makes & the very high speeds it is capable of reaching. According to the owner, he's clocked speeds well in excess of 200km/h down the Simpang Tiga straights with this ride. Performance wise, this ride has been beefed up with the must-have upgrades ~ intake, exhaust upgrades & after market ECU. Interesting to note is the exhaust setup, starting from the Mugen 4-2-1 header down to the 3" ??!! exhaust piping capped with a Blitz Nur Spec muffler ~ makes for a pleasant audible exhaust tone. Braking system is also beefed up with disc brakes all on all fours, from the Accord & Koni coilovers are employed to improve the handling.
Now, let the pictures do justice =)

As the pictures speak for themselves ~ much time, sweat, blood & $ has been poured into the making & pimping of this baby. Now this baby is looking for a new proud enthusiast owner, who understands & appreciates the the hardwork & toiling put in building a project car, & enjoys exploiting the finer details of driving a tuned car; at the right $$, of course. For more details, the owner can be reached at 016-8668890

Who wants a raise?

yet another funny forwarded mail that i need to share ~ injecting some kinky humor into the economic slowdown induced emo-ness spillover... =p

THE PENIS WANTS A RAISE

I, the Penis, hereby request a raise in salary for the following reasons:

01. I do physical labor
02. I work at great depths

03. I plunge head first into everything I do

04. I do not get weekends off or public holidays

05. I work in a damp environment

06. I don't get paid overtime

07. I work in a dark workplace that has poor Ventilation

08. I work in high temperatures

09. My work exposes me to contagious diseases

******** REPLY ********

Dear Penis,

After assessing your request, and considering the arguments you have raised, the administration rejects your request for the following reasons:

01. You do not work 8 hours straight

02. You fall asleep on the job after brief work periods

03. You do not always follow the order s of the management team

04. You do not stay in your allocated position, and often visit other restricted areas

05. You do not take initiative - you need to be pressured and stimulated in order to start working

06. You leave the workplace rather messy at the end of your shift

07. You don't always observe necessary safety regulations, such as wearing the correct protective clothing

08. You'll retire well before reaching 65

09. You're unable to work double shifts

10. You sometimes leave your allocated position before you have completed the day's work.

And, if that were not all, you have been seen constantly entering and leaving the workplace carrying 2 suspicious looking bags.

Sincerely,

The Management

Grassroots Honda: Panning Shots

The term 'pan' is the contraction of the word panorama and implies the horizontal scanning of a scene. The pan shot is more often used, however, for the purpose of following action or of giving movement to a scene that otherwise would be static. The pan has two main functions; first, to direct the attention from one place to another; second, to follow action or movement ~ (quoted from somewhere...)

From Rides
Panning shot ~ Take 1
Comment: 1st ever attempt at taking panning shots
Feeling: Clueless as ever, coz did not do homework *readup on how-to*; just simply hantam in burst mode
Settings: Shutter priority 1/00; f16; ISO100; EV -1
Verdict: CMI ~ Cannot-Make-It... coz this is about the only good shot

From Rides
~ Take 2: The Not-So-Pan Shot Pan Shot *like this also can call pan shot ka?? nothing, i just dig this accidental picture composition
=P

From Rides
~ Take 3: The 9-Shots

* All shots taken using EOS450D + EFS 18-55mm standard kit lens

Overall Verdict: I need to practice more...
