The Good Ol' Days.... =p

This mental institution used to be my workplace & the wackos, are ex-colleagues i call buddies. That's a re-enactment of our ritual induction program for new joiners. =p
*Note: no rear holes were violated in the making of this staged ritual, really

Making the Wall of Fame...

From Work

They were my fellow ex-comrades in a place that used to be my prayplayground... a place i used to toil tirelessly day & night to earn a humble living, making ends meet. There were tough times though, ironically those were the good times as well... despite all the rants & bitching about the sucky jobs we've had to put up with, & how we've wished for the day when we're finally able to get the hell outta here ~ to move on to greener pastures; those times will always be the defining moment in my career... all through the hardships & trying times we've come a long way and bonded well, almost family-like. I've made wonderful friends through work who've left profound imprints in my life; some have long left, some longing to go & some happily staying put. I will always reflect upon this little chapter in my life with fondness. =)
What does not kill you will make you stronger... it's an honour to be nominated on this Wall of Fame * thanks to loi for the picha, maybe you'll make the wall in due time too, hehe =p *
~ to my fellow colleagues back there, i miss y'all & all the best for the ones venturing into new pastures...

From Work

In response to my beloved ex-boss farewell, as updated by my avid shutterbug ex-colleague, CT ~ Master Yet, my ex-uber-cool boss *neh, the baldy fella with blue target mark on the forehead!*; he's one of a kind, kind of boss... just look at the farewell card intended for him ~ it speaks volume about the person he is.... wish you all the best! =D

long time no post...

It's been almost a month since i'm here. I'm still alive & kicking but my blogging juices have run dry since... This settling in process is taking a lot longer than i had expected & has been taxing as well. Adapting to a new environment, searching for my identity in this new place & seeking for acceptance in cliques i'm going to have to fit in hasn't been exactly easy, especially when it's those first few steps you take to step out of your old comfort zone. But it has to be done, for me to get to where i aspire to be.
From Miri

I'll be moving out of my temporary comfort dwelling in a week's time. I hope i'll get settled in my new place soon; though may not be as luxuriously comfortable...

It's always good when old buddies come for a visit... it gets a little too boring when you're living on your own, at times.

Lunch @ the Eatery ~ 4 Points Sheraton

From Miscellaneous

From Miscellaneous

how come nothing on food one???! *replaced the group teaser picha with a better quality one stolen from faithloveschocolate

this is actually a farewell lunch for our litho family's most beloved trainee (currently holds the record for the longest internship stint), ah ren chong ~ dedicated to him/us, by him/us ~ ?? =D

we will miss you, brada & wish you all the best in your continuing your journey from here onwards! re-quoting you here ~ ' don't cry because it's over, Smile because it happened' . I'm not used to sitting beside an empty cubicle & having no one to poke fun at =(
by the way, someone is also showing severe withdrawal symptoms at work today... his 1st day back in office after you left...

meanwhile, here is loi's story & here's faith's gastronomic rendition of the luncheon... so kindly let me procrastinate in peace ~ taking my sweet time to update a full post on this =p

truly a genuine & unique friend, who leaves deep imprints in the lives of those priviledged ones who know him personally ~ as one vibrant & enthusiastic wacky head, usually ham sup too with contageous laughter & has the rare *humbling* ability to laugh at himself just to brighten up the day for others =p

An excerpt from a chapter closed...

... one topic we touched on that i certainly aware of is the value of friendship. certainly, the ones u r close now wont be forever by ur side. however, things tend to be uncertain. that's the miracle of creation i guess. just go with the flow. the ones that u able to keep for long, appreciate it. the ones that leave suddenly and disappear, have faith on them.

will take that cue from you, my friend ... =)

On coming home ~ thanks to Marv & Ah Yun that i had a hard time contemplating on whether to extend my stay. Appreciate all your valiant effort in psycho-ing; constantly reminding me about what i'll be missing out , had i not, over supper at the Desa U mamak under the drizzling rain, the other night. Yaps, i'll definitly miss checking out the new happening place to be, Autocity in Juru; more importantly i'll be missing some lim teh session with old-time pals & acquaitances; hard time getting schedules to meet coz most are working & i'll be around only for a short day or two. Missing out on meeting her (Chuin Li) too.. =p
Damn. Should have stayed on & told my boss flight got cancelled; and get to come back later this week.

Had a couple of pleasantly suprising random encounters during those short few days. Bumped into an old friend, Adam at Queensbay mall the other day. Has always been great to meet old/long-lost friends in such manner; it's interesting to see how we've progressed on, each time =)

The other guy that i kept bumping into is THAT famous blogger from Kuching. Was on the same flight there, same flight back; just kept running into this fella at every mall i stepped into in Penang. I'm sure he did pretty well in the Penang Bridge Marathon =)

Just right before the wedding dinner, managed to sneak out with Kino for an appetizing tea-break at SP's infamous ji kai or 2nd street hawker center ~ equal of Kuching's open air market

Yet another brader who's still going solo keeping me company, haha. Till next time friend, til your wedding =)

Bumped into another brader, Choon Aun at Pei's wedding dinner. Doing very ho seh career-wise, still talks crazy: Hey brader, u kang tao boh? bo meh? an chua cho a ne? that was our standard greeting protocol 4 years back, in Kuching. 4 years on the rant has gone full cycle, & still remain the standard protocol in SP. Damn jia lat. Some people like us just don't move on.
This pic is reminiscent of those days...

L-R: Bernard, me, Adam, Davis, Nic & Choon Aun
Once upon a time 4 years ago, 3 braders from Kedah + 1 from Sabah landed on our Kuching shores to wreak havoc & steal our kang taos (scarce commodity here) =p
Still vividly remember the time we watched the Sarawak Vs Kedah football match at our state stadium ~ u guys booed when our hometeam scored! insult our Bujang Senang team like that?? mauk mati kah??!!
Ha, those were the days.... nice catching up with u again brader =)

@ E-Gate's Oldtown Kopitiam with Marv & Soo

Ex-prom night date: Soo ~ a bubbly soon to be mummy =)

Marv ~ for the good company, thanks! See ya when i see ya =)

* Pei Shi, it was nice meeting u again & thanks alot for the photos; yet to have time to browse them thru =)
* Wai Mun, thanks & nice place dude! Will catch up with u someday soon =)

真の友達

You seem to have the oddest of a name, fitting for a real drama queen who’s always outstandingly outspoken. We’ve been course-mates in our uni-days but have never really clicked early on coz we don’t belong to the same clique. You knew very well that I belonged to the banana category, but you would only speak to me in hua yu; I found out soon after that you actually speak fluent hokkien at home. You practiced language discrimination against me! You were that intimidating to talk to, like most foochow-poh.

Having nothing much in common, we were hardly even on speaking terms. However, that changed when we became unlikely housemates during our internship term in a vibrant little island up north, known as the Pearl of the Orient. Oh, how it was real troublesome fun having you around as a housemate. Caring, sensible & reliable in character but hardly without the tendency to morph into a dramatic blur sotong any moment.

You & your dramatic tales, your bathroom-hogging antics, your sporadic thunderous laughter, your weekly mic-hogging hardly audible session at Redbox, your over-indulgence in your durian-flower dish (#-p… we had that for 1 week straight), & your hilarious squabbles with my beloved room-mate over the smallest & trivial-est of matters (I guess that’s some people’s way of showing care & affection; you 2 are 1 of a kind =p). Though, we were always at it, mercilessly poking fun at each other; you laughed at my near-non-existent fluency in spoken hua yu then (not anymore!), made fun of my retarded motor-skills at racquet games (bully, ah!), dissed my eating habits (you've got a personal vendetta against people who are prone to eating slowly isit??), & treated me like I was your personal chauffeur.

On getting even ~ we had a good laugh at your experimental hair-style change gone wrong, & started to affectionately call you ‘donkey’ eversince (Intel's donkey)… been missing your ‘elephunt’ dance moves during those frequent clubbing nights. Those were the carefree internship days when life was much more ‘happening’ & the feeling of friendship cheer felt so stronger, despite not having much to live by; meager allowances & bas mini was the only form of transportation. The fond memories will always live on.

Fast forward 3 years on, & at yet another major crossroad in life. Glad that you’ve finally secured a big-shot career opportunity that you truly deserved. Oil & gas = Bigtime $$ =) Though, leaving behind all that you’re familiar with ~ home, friends, family & the semiconductor field in general has not been an easy decision, I’m sure. Days spent in uncertainty, anxious waits, & long thoughts; pondering on what the future may be (i'm still)… After all we’re always seeking for greener pastures in life, & in the pursuit of our dreams sometimes there are tough decisions & sacrifices to make. But as always, you’ve got a clear mind on the direction to take in life, you’ll go a long way ~ Cheers, buddy! =)
