JJ Charity Concert ~ 16th Dec

slow update in progress... ~ stay tuned ~

I bet I’m one of the slowest to update this; 2 nights ago I had the privilege of catching Lin Jun Jie’s mini-concert at Kenyalang Community Hall upfront & close ~ props to International Times & Jimmy Chin for the exclusive media pass!

I’m easy going when it comes to music ~ any genre & language, as long as it’s good music, goes with me. While I’m not an ardent follower of the mandarin music scene, I could always hum up a couple of JJ’s song, although I may not recall the title of the songs accurately (me being a so-called banana Chinese). I find his songs catchy & somewhat contagious (always a popular choice at karaoke’s) & he’s got great soothing vocals to carry the tunes well. Hailing from Singapore, JJ’s has established himself as one of the premier artistes in the Chinese music scene in these recent years. The selection of songs, though not many are mostly from his recent album, Sixology.

This event, being one of my first to cover, I couldn’t help but feel giddy & a little over-excited. Had even brought along the highly coveted 580EXII speedlite arsenal, on loan from my good brada Sexylips; so I could shoot better; which, made an embarrassment out of myself for a good part of the earlier pre-concert moments ~ I had no idea how to get the speedlite to work!! After a bout of panic call & fumbling through the details, only did I got it to light up & sync with my camera just in time for the start of the concert, but not before nearly blinding my poor white-mice subjects with my maiden shots, hehe. =p

The concert kicked off with a few words of speeches from the sponsors & organizers, followed by opening acts comprising of a hip-hop dance routine. The emcees, Deejays with a national Chinese channel did a great job of hyping up the atmosphere gave a good flow to the proceedings of the concert; yup I’m referring to the cute trendy one =)

I have great respect & admiration for live performers with great vocals & showmanship, & I must say JJ did not disappoint. He actually sounded better, live; during the performance, occasionally I found myself grooving to the rhythm & getting absorbed in the performance that I forget to shoot.

Overall, the near-packed concert was awesome, albeit a bit short; the autograph session nearly took quite as long as the concert itself, & I find the venue of the event leaves much to be desired.

Now here are some more shots from the event:

*Yeaps, my photography skills leaves much to be desired too... i need to rely on photo-editing to save my life -_-
